The National Committee on U.S.–China Relations (NCUSCR) is a nonprofit organization that has worked for decades to build understanding between the United States and China. Yihai is a long-time partner: Chairwoman Linda Wang serves as Vice Chair of NCUSCR’s Education Committee, and NCUSCR President Stephen Orlins has joined Yihai’s programs and events for more than a decade.
NCUSCR and the U.S.–China Business Council co-hosted the welcome dinner in Seattle during the Chinese president’s 2015 state visit, bringing together leaders from Apple, Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon and dozens of other companies. Linda Wang attended alongside former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Ambassador Gary Locke, NCUSCR President Stephen Orlins and NCUSCR Chair Carla Hills.
At NCUSCR’s 50th Anniversary Gala in New York, Linda Wang was invited on stage as a head-table guest, the only entrepreneur from China among them. The evening’s opening toast was dedicated to her, in thanks for Yihai’s work to bring American and Chinese teachers and students together.
Carla Hills, Henry Kissinger and Maurice Greenberg received the Committee’s first Lifetime Achievement Awards, and Boeing’s Raymond Conner and United Airlines’ Oscar Munoz were also honored.
At the 2017 Annual Gala, which closed the Committee’s 50th-anniversary year, Yihai’s Xin Dihao joined NCUSCR leaders including Stephen Orlins and Vice President Jan Berris. Board Chair Carla Hills told the audience the story of Yihai and Linda Wang, and their long support for education and cultural exchange.
Stephen Orlins has supported Yihai’s annual charity fair from its very first year. In 2017 he helped open the fair, where students, teachers and parents sell handmade goods for charity. Linda Wang thanked him for his years of work on the teacher and student exchanges, presenting him with a book by ping-pong diplomacy champion Zhuang Zedong.
